St Wilfrids Roman Catholic Church, Northwich
Parish Mission 2010
St. Wilfrid’s Parish Mission
10th – 25th April 2010
Sion Catholic Community for Evangelism
A Mission is:
- A time to pray
- A time to take stock
- A time to celebrate our faith
- A time to build community
- A time to look forward
Sion Community (founded in 1984 by Fr.Pat Lynch, a priest of the Nottingham Diocese) works at the centre of the Church under the authority of the Catholic Bishops of England and Wales. They are made up of Priests, Religious and lay people who are committed to proclaim the Gospel in an encouraging and challenging way. They work with the parish before, during and after the Mission to help us to discover the gifts God has given us in service of others and to share our faith.
They use a variety of means to proclaim the good news of the Gospel in ways that are relevant to our times. This is what is meant by evangelisation – the good news of Christ for today.
A Mission in Two Parts
Week One 11th – 17th April
Visiting Team - will stay in the parish, visit people at home, join us for prayer and worship and enjoy our hospitality.
Week Two 18th – 25th April
Celebration Team – will lead us in worship and prayer. There will be early and mid morning Masses, faith sharing, exploring methods of prayer.
There will be a Mission Service at 7.30 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday on different aspects of the Mission theme. St. Wilfrid’s Primary School will give a presentation on Thursday, 23rd at the earlier time of 7.00 p.m.
On Sunday, 18th April from 4.00 – 6.00 p.m. the Celebration Team will lead us ‘in a hands on approach’ to the music, drama, art and display so that the ‘four Mission Services’ are living and prayerful experiences.
